The plum blossom, which is known as the meihua, is one of the most beloved flowers in China and has been frequently depicted in Chinese art and poetry for centuries.The plum blossom is seen as a symbol of winter and a harbinger of spring.The blossoms are so beloved because they came to symbolize perseverance and hope, but also beauty, purity, and the transitoriness of life.When tracing back to Chinese painting development history, you can easily see that the plum blossom are the most frequent objects among bird-and- flower paintings and Chinese traditional poems.Therefore, the amount of artists specializing in the unique cultural symbolism are also very large, some of which have made significant contributions to the development of the artistic form and Zhang Jianxin is one of them.
